Accommodation

Chez les Rois is a very large property dating back to 1842, which has been completely restored to offer our guests a haven of peace, comfort and luxury and can accommodate 22 guests plus children.

The Farmhouse and Barn offer spacious accommodation for 3 or 4 families or large groups of friends wishing to holiday together, celebrate a special event or even spend Christmas together. It' s also a wonderful location for a wedding and we are more than delighted to help you organise the wedding of your dreams...

Farmhouse

In the Farmhouse we have two reception rooms, a well equipped kitchen which is large with enough for 2 to 3 cooks to work in harmony. There are lots of work surfaces, cupboard space, an island unit with a built in hob, large Italian cooker and an American fridge/freezer that dispenses ice/water - a must in summer. The cupboards contain a large supply of crockery, glasses and utensils for every day use.

At the rear of the Farmhouse is a huge room which was originally the "Chais". This has been completely renovated to offer a lounge /dining area for 22 to 40 people. Large comfortable sofas with antique furniture, the 'buffet' and the 'argentier' contain a selection of quality glass wear and crockery so everyone can dine in style. There is a CD player, large plasma screen TV, and a DVD player. Access to the pool is through the French windows all you have to do is step out! The pool is 9x 4.5 metres with Roman steps and is surrounded by a Mediterranean garden with canna, flowering laurels, lavender, olive trees, yuccas...

There are five bedrooms in the Farmhouse, three double bedrooms and one twin room all have en-suite facilities, the other twin bedroom has a shower room and WC, and just along the hallway.

Barn

The accommodation in the Barn includes two double bedrooms with ensuite facilities in the form of a shower room. There is another double bedroom with a twin bedroom next door. This would probably suite a family with two young children because this accommodation shares a family bathroom.

The lounge in the Barn is upstairs and over looks one of the pools. Step out of the French windows to the balcony, the view of the surrounding country side is amazing! Just off the lounge area we have a small twin bedroom, the 'crows nest' but it's just for children.

Bread Oven

Adjacent to the Barn we have "Le Four au Pain". This is a double bedroom with en suite shower room facilities. It was originally the bread oven for the Farmhouse. It still retains the original bread oven, lots of character... but walk through the French doors and you will find a small private terrace with a small courtyard.

We had such a good time at Chez les Rois - I really can't thank you enough for everything you did to make it possible. Everything about the house, grounds, pool etc surpassed my expectations (which were pretty high anyway!). I don't think I've stopped raving about the place to anyone who wants to listen!

We are four families with kids of various ages and we couldn't have picked a better place to stay. The house and gardens are huge so there's plenty of room to be all together or find a quiet spot if you feel the need.

The hot tub was a big hit with the kids, they spent the week in a pack skipping from pool to hot tub to trampoline to watch a DVD and back to hot tub etc - it was difficult to get them away for a day out! The net over the pool was a hit with the adults too, for some energetic games of water volleyball.

Our hosts Gail and Mike were fabulous, very welcoming and helpful (They solved our shortage of wine crisis on the first night and we knew then that we'd get on great!) They gave us loads of information and help with booking things and left a couple of folders with useful info on places of interest, boat trips, markets, restaurants etc.

The only mistake we made was to leave Gail's catering until the last evening! The table was set by Gail and Mike's pool and we arrived to champagne, rum punch and a fantastic selection of appetizers. Delicious starters followed and the wine flowed leading up to the most enormous paella - the guys faces were a picture when they saw it! The kids were well catered for too with the advantage that they could go off and play in safety between courses. A fantastic evening was had by all - we just wish we'd discovered Gail's cooking at the beginning not the end of the week

Mr & Mrs Leeds

Chez les Rois is a very great place to stay, if you are a big group. There is everything that you need. Plenty of room, some of them very romantic.

What we really liked about Chez les Rois was that it have kept its old look and haven't been too modernised. If was great to see the old pictures, from when you took over the place.

It was great that we didn't have to bring towels, sheets, kitchen things. It left us space to bring home more wine and Cognac.
But what really differs from other summer residences in France are the hosts. We have never met so much hospitality, willing to help and give good recommendations. Gail and Mike you have been fantastic. We felt that you were good friends, that we were visiting Valby.

Hilleroed Denmark

Took a holiday here with extended family in June this year. It is often difficult to find a place large enough to accommodate big groups but this place is truly something special.

The approach to the farmhouse is impressive enough but the interior is even more so. As each person took their bags to their room they thought they had been allocated the best bedroom but it turned out they were all superb. The soft furnishings against the rustic furniture were luxurious and what a bonus to have so many bathrooms.

But the heart of the house was the kitchen where everyone could get together sharing in food preparation or just having a glass of wine (or two!) There was an endless supply of crockery, glasses and cutlery something other places often overlook.

But if you want a break from cooking there is the luxury of the on site catering provided by Gail. Her meals were all superb and it was such a treat to be able to dine at home as a family group. No more arguments about whose turn it is to drive!!

This was a lovely relaxing break in a beautiful part of France made extra special by the efforts of the hostess with the mostest Gail! Looking forward to our next visit.

Di from Preston

We brought my family of four plus an assortment of friends and other family members to the beautiful Chez Les Rois in July of 2010. We were a total of 11 people and the combination of House and Farmhouse made our time in the French country side truly enjoyable. The house was big enough we all could get together easily in one room for breakfast, dinner or just drinks. Or, we could retreat to our own rooms or one of the many ante-rooms for quiet time. We enjoyed the pools, walking to the patisserie, riding bikes and drinking wine. The kids had plenty to explore and the adults had plenty of places to be adults.

We used Chez Les Rois as our home base while we drove down to St. Emillion, Bordeaux, drove up to St Georges and it worked perfectly. Mike and Gail were always ready to help with great directions.

But the real reason you want to stay at Chez Les Rois is for the food. Gail is a fantastic chef and the meals we had there were all extraordinary. They have a list to choose from and don't worry a bit, every meal we had was a delight. Make sure to order the Paella.
I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed this place.
